| San Xavier Del Bac Mission |
|
Introduction
The San Xavier Del Bac Mission is located in the San Xavier Indian Reservation, 18 km (11 miles) south of Tucson.
The mission, also known as the 'Dove of the Desert', was completed at the end of the 18th century.
It is one of the finest examples of the Spanish mission architecture in the USA.
Especially the murals in the church are beautiful.
The mission is open daily and no admission is charged but donations are appreciated.
If you are in the Tucson area then a visit to the mission sure is worth your while.
Directions
From Tucson take Interstate-19 South.
Exit to the W Valencia Road (west bound) and then turn left to W Mission Road (south bound).
Road signs will lead you to the exact location.
Driving time from Downtown Tucson is about 20 minutes.
